Our Story
The International Institute of Youth Led Research is an international, student-led think tank dedicated to promoting youth engagement in public policy and research. Open to students under the age of 18, our mission is to cultivate a generation of informed, thoughtful, and empowered young individuals who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to discussions and decisions that shape our world.
We recognize that young people possess not only curiosity and creativity but also valuable perspectives on the pressing issues facing society today. Our think tank exists to provide students with the structure, resources, and community needed to transform their interests into impactful contributions to policy discourse.
Through our flagship Research Program, selected students are placed into policy groups aligned with thematic areas.

Within these groups, students conduct original research, collaborate with peers, and receive support from experienced mentors and reviewers. They are encouraged to develop research papers, policy briefings, and reports aimed at influencing both public dialogue and institutional policy at local, national, and international levels. Students can also engage in interdisciplinary research across policy groups.
Our platform operates as both a research incubator and a global network. Students are encouraged to collaborate across regions, connect with external organizations, and engage with policymakers. By bridging the gap between youth and institutions of power, we strive to ensure that young voices are not only heard but actively shape the future of public policy.
At its core, IIYR is a space where motivated students can explore ideas, challenge assumptions, and contribute to real-world change - proving that youth are not the leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today.
In addition to research, IIYR offers opportunities for students to participate in media, editorial, and communications work - ranging from writing articles for our news section to helping document and disseminate the work of our policy groups. These roles are open to students of all experience levels and are designed to provide early exposure to research and policy while building essential communication skills.
